Google Nest Hub prices and platform details from support.google.com and blog.google, checked 18 September 2026; the $99.99 price is Target's listing because the Google Store page sits behind a consent wall. In fairness, Nest Hub is a very good photo frame and a Thread border router for Matter devices, and Voice Match keeps each person's calendar private. Plannie has no speaker of its own; its voice is Siri on your phone.

A readout and a household
The Nest Hub is a 2021 desk device that is a photo frame first and a calendar on request. The Hub Max is discontinued and nothing has replaced either. On the calendar it is Google only, daily and weekly views only, a readout of your first five events, and voice can add an event but never change or cancel one. If your Thursday moves, you pick up your phone.
Voice Match is its honest strength: each person's calendar stays private and gets read to them, not to the whole kitchen. It is also the ceiling. Each calendar stays its owner's, so there is no colour-coded family view, and there are no chores, no meals, no rewards and no way to email a school schedule in. Lists run through Google Keep and reminders through Google Tasks. Plannie starts from the shared view: everyone's days side by side, chores that pay out in tickets, a weekly meal grid with recipes, and a Family Inbox that files a forwarded flyer under the right child.
On price the Nest Hub wins outright, $99.99 once and nothing paywalled. The direction matters though: Google's new features are moving to Google Home Premium at $100/year while the hardware stands still.
