A chores app that stopped, and a hub that's here
OurHome was built around the chore chart. A task could go to one child, several, or rotate between them each week, with a due date, a reminder, a late penalty and a parent's approval before the points landed. Those points bought something real: allowance, screen time, a holiday. A phone-sized monthly calendar and a shared grocery list sat beside it. It was free, with no ads, and 720,000 Android households downloaded it.
Then it stopped. The last update shipped in October 2020, the Android app was removed from Google Play in September 2023, the App Store listing is gone and the website no longer answers. There was never a shutdown notice, and review sites record families logged out with no way back in. Even in its last version it had no calendar sync, no meal planning, no way to email a school schedule in, and no display mode for the kitchen.
Plannie picks up where OurHome was strongest. Chores and routines pay out in tickets that kids trade for rewards, and each child has their own view in personal mode. Around the chores sits the rest of the household: everyone's days in their own colour with two-way Google and Outlook sync, a weekly meal grid, a Family Inbox that files a forwarded PDF under the right child, and kiosk mode on the tablet you already own. One plan at $99 a year, with nothing charged per child.
Choose OurHome if…
You can't, in practice. The app is gone from both stores and the site doesn't load. What's worth keeping is the idea: rotating chores, an approval step, and points that turn into something a child actually wants. Any replacement should do those.

No. The original OurHome (Cape Horizon Pty Ltd) was removed from Google Play on 28 September 2023, its last update was version 3.14.4 in October 2020, the App Store listing now returns a 404 and ourhomeapp.com times out. No shutdown notice was ever published. Don't confuse it with OurHome by Elusios, a different roommate and household app from another developer, launched in October 2025 with a $1.99 premium unlock. Review sites sometimes blur the two; Elusios doesn't mention the original app anywhere.
