Email to calendar: forward it, it's filed.
Your household gets its own email address. Forward the school newsletter, the practice schedule, the party invitation - Plannie reads them, adds every event to the family calendar, and replies with what it did.
HOW IT WORKS
- Find your address. In Plannie, open Settings → General → Family inbox - your household has its own @mail.plannie.io address you can customise.
- Forward the email. Send or forward anything with dates in it - newsletters, invitations, schedules, with PDFs or photos attached.
- Check the confirmation. Plannie extracts every event and replies listing what it added. Unknown senders are held until you approve them.
Built for the school-email flood
The average family inbox is where dates go to die: term calendars in PDFs, sports fixtures in forwarded chains, birthday parties in image attachments. Family Inbox gives all of it one destination. Every event lands on the shared calendar with the right member's colour, shows who added it, and can carry the original attachment - so the permission slip is attached to the day it's due.
Frequently asked
How do I turn an email into a calendar event?+
In Plannie, forward the email to your household’s own Family Inbox address. Plannie reads the message - including attached PDFs and photos - pulls out every date, time and place, adds the events to your shared family calendar, and sends a confirmation email back listing exactly what it created.
Can it read school newsletters and attachments?+
Yes. Family Inbox reads the email body and its attachments - PDFs are read natively, both the text and the rendered pages, so a scanned school newsletter or a sports-club schedule works. Attachments up to 10 MB are supported and can be kept attached to the created event.
Can anyone email events into our family calendar?+
No - the inbox is guarded. The first time a new sender emails your Family Inbox, Plannie holds the message and asks you to approve them; only approved senders get through, and you can block anyone. Held messages are processed the moment you approve the sender.
Can I send an event to a specific family member or list?+
Yes - use the subject line. Write a member’s name and Plannie assigns the events to them; write “meals”, “shopping” or “tasks” and the content is routed to the meal planner, the grocery list or your tasks instead of the calendar.
Is Family Inbox free?+
Family Inbox is part of Plannie Premium - $99 a year covering the whole household. Plannie’s free plan includes the shared family calendar with two-way Google and Outlook sync, so you can start free and add the inbox when the paperwork gets real.
